The Path Through The Andes
A curated trail through ancient citadels, living villages, and high mountain passes, balanced with open space to integrate, explore, and rest. Tap any day to trace the journey.
Group transportation departs Cusco Airport for our retreat home in the Valley. Spend the afternoon acclimating to the altitude, settling into your space, and wandering the grounds at your own pace. In the evening we gather for a welcome dinner and orientation circle to meet the group and walk through the days ahead.
Begin with a relaxed walking tour through the town of Pisac, learning the rhythms of daily Andean life from a local guide. In the afternoon we gather for an opening circle, a chance for each traveler to share what brought them here and what they're hoping to find. Optional bodywork sessions are available for anyone still settling into the altitude.
A full day exploring three of the Valley's most striking sites: the centuries-old salt pans of Maras, the mysterious concentric terraces of Moray, long thought to be an Incan agricultural laboratory, and the imposing fortress town of Ollantaytambo. Each stop reveals a different layer of Andean ingenuity. Lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
We board a scenic train through the Valley to Aguas Calientes, then ascend by bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu. A local historian guides us through the terraces and temples, sharing the stories behind one of the world's most extraordinary feats of architecture. After lunch in town, we return by train and private transport to our retreat home.
Morning brings a guided walk to a high-altitude turquoise lake, framed by some of the Valley's most dramatic peaks. In the afternoon we trade hiking boots for looms, sitting down with local weavers to learn techniques passed through generations, from natural dye-making to traditional pattern work.
We travel to Cusco for a day among cobblestone streets, colonial facades built atop Incan stonework, and the bustling stalls of San Pedro Market. Visit the Qorikancha temple and wander the Plaza de Armas at your own pace before we gather for dinner and an evening of live Andean music.
Today belongs completely to you. Spend a quiet morning hanging out at the retreat space, reading, and taking in the mountain views, or catch a ride into Pisac to wander the cobblestone streets and local markets. No schedules, no timelines—just open space to rest and integrate the journey however you choose.
We depart before sunrise for the drive into the high Andes, arriving at the trailhead near 4,600 meters. From there, a guided hike leads to the striped slopes of Rainbow Mountain at over 5,000 meters, with the towering Apu Ausangate on the horizon. After taking in the summit, we descend for a well-earned lunch before returning to the Valley.
Spend the morning hands-on with local artisans, shaping clay or working a loom, followed by a short group reflection to compare notes on the week so far. The afternoon is left open for rest, exploring Pisac, or booking a 1:1 session with one of our retreat practitioners.
We travel to the Quechua village of Willoq Alto, where daily life still follows the rhythm of the land. Spend the morning among the community, learning about textile traditions passed down through generations and the Andean worldview that shapes everyday life. At midday we share a Pachamanca, a traditional meal cooked beneath the earth with hot stones, an offering to Pachamama and the abundance she provides.
The morning is open for last-minute market visits or quiet time before we gather for a closing circle, sharing reflections and the connections made along the way. In the evening we celebrate with a farewell dinner, toasting to the friendships and memories of the past eleven days.
Group transportation departs at 8:00 AM for Cusco Airport. You'll travel home with new connections, fresh inspiration, and a deep grounding in the legacy of the Andes.

When should I book my flights?
Plan to arrive at Cusco International Airport by 11:30 AM on April 11, 2027, as our private group airport transfer departs shortly after. Departure shuttle transportation back to Cusco Airport leaves our retreat base on April 22 at 8:00 AM.
What is excluded from the itinerary package?
- International flights routing in and out of Cusco
- Personal daily spending and artisan market shopping allocations
- Comprehensive global travel insurance (highly required)
- Optional private on-site bodywork or 1:1 integration sessions
Do I need to speak fluent Spanish?
No. Our specialized heritage guides are fully bilingual throughout the journey, ensuring the group is protected and informed at every turn. While learning a few standard local expressions is wonderful for community connection, it is never required.
How should I prepare for the Andean altitude?
Cusco and the Sacred Valley occupy high elevation thresholds. Our timeline explicitly incorporates gradual, slow acclimation rest intervals during the opening days. Fresh local coca tea, intentional hydration tracking, and a mindful pace are integrated safely into the template.
What physical fitness baseline is required?
The majority of our walks suit a moderate fitness level. Distinct historic pathways like Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain involve ascending physical trails at high altitude. The group stays closely clustered, proceeding at a steady pace with structured breathing windows. Beginning a casual cardiovascular walking routine prior to transit will help you feel present and vibrant.
Is this experience optimized for solo travelers?
Absolutely. Many of our participants register independently. The container is designed for swift, natural relationship building and collaborative community immersion. The Shared Journey tier perfectly pairs solo registrants with a carefully matched roommate to preserve room sync.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Vivid Visionaries retreats, modules, and sanctuary events are non-refundable once booked. We require full energetic commitment prior to secure allocation holds, as your unique placement is restricted to you from the moment registration settles.
