A practice built on listening.
Book a sessionWhat is asking
to move?
Valley Spirit is a practice devoted to deeper relationship · with yourself, with each other, and with the living world.
Everything starts with the body, because the body is the most direct place to listen. To your story. To what touch and movement say. To the relationships shaping your health.
From there, treatment is built for you. No two people get the same session.
Pain, old patterns, burnout, grief, or just feeling disconnected. That question matters more than trying to fix what is wrong.
Emily Morrison,
LAc, MAOM
Emily is a licensed acupuncturist, educator, and the practitioner behind Valley Spirit in Beacon, New York. For more than twenty years she has studied and practiced bodywork, Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, craniosacral therapy, qigong, and the internal arts.
She began in therapeutic bodywork in 2005, then earned her Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Fifteen years of lineage training with the North American Tang Shou Tao Association shaped how she works · classical and traditional Chinese medicine, internal martial arts, qigong, and the Gongfu medicine traditions carried within that lineage.
Her work keeps evolving through study, practice, and curiosity about how different traditions and lived experience can teach one another, while staying grounded in Chinese medicine.
What people say
Emily is so strong and intuitive. I've been seeing her and her students for years and my body and mind are better for it. After years of not being able to get pregnant I knew I needed a new approach to release blockage and calm my system.
Learning
the work
Emily teaches qigong, bodywork, and Chinese medicine to students and practitioners.
Twenty years of practice and fifteen years of lineage training sit behind every class. The teaching stays practical · what to feel for, what to trust, how to keep learning after the training ends.
Qigong
Classical forms and internal arts, taught slowly enough that the practice actually stays with you.
Bodywork
Hands on training for practitioners. What to feel for, and how to trust what you find.
Chinese medicine
Classical and traditional theory carried through fifteen years of lineage training.
Before you
come in
Beacon, New York, in the Hudson Valley. Emily also teaches and joins retreats across the United States and internationally.
It starts with a conversation. Your story, what brought you in, and what your body is showing. Treatment follows from there and may include acupuncture, bodywork, craniosacral, herbs, or movement.
No. Most people come in with a general sense that something is off. That is enough to start.
The needles are very fine and most people feel little more than a dull ache or nothing at all. Emily explains each step as she goes.
Beginners are welcome in every part of the practice, from treatment to qigong classes.
